Founded in 1995, Fairgrove Family Resource Center (FGFRC) has a vision for working with families that centers on the belief that all families have strengths and our role is to help them build on these strengths. We look at how to support families in a way that helps them make positive choices for themselves. Our center is dedicated to working toward making Thomasville and eastern Davidson County a safe, welcoming place to raise our children.
In the services we provide, we support the growth and development of all family and community members. We believe in collaboration, creating trusting and responsive partnerships, and maintaining respectful relationships. FGFRC offers assistance with our food pantry, emergency financial assistance and, parenting classes on an ongoing basis. Our center partners with Fair Grove United Methodist Church providing a clothing closet of gently used clothes for children. We have seasonal programs to help provide area children with school supplies and a Christmas program to provide area children with clothes and toys.
FGFRC's mission is to build a better community one family at a time. The primary focus of our center is to provide supportive and direct services to children and families living in the City of Thomasville and eastern Davidson County, in North Carolina, to help them become self-sufficient and economically viable. Our programs are inclusive and focused on families. All services are free of charge and provided in a quaint, welcoming environment.
- The center distributes over 16,000 pounds of food monthly for those suffering from hunger in Thomasville and eastern Davidson County.
- 11,564 people were provided boxes of nutritionally balanced food in 2011.
- 194 children receiving free or reduced lunch take a back pack filled with child-friendly nutritious food home each Friday during the school year to provide food for the weekend.
- We helped 535 families in 2011 avoid the loss of their utility service and/or their home.
- Over 2,330 client referrals were made to three or more collaborating agencies in the last 12 months.
- Magic 1,2,3, Parenting Wisely, and Triple P parenting classes were utilized by interested parents and the Davidson County Department of Social Services Child Protective Service Unit.
- Resource center employees serve as advocates for our clients in court and for other critical services.
- Our Gifts From The Heart Christmas program provided clothes, shoes and toys to 315 children in 2011.
- Fill The Bus continues to supplement 9 area schools with essential school supplies needed for academic development.
- FGFRC averages 49 new clients for our food pantry and 16 new clients for emergency financial assistance every month.
